The Village of Cambridge works with McFarland Senior Outreach and offers many services for people age 60 and over:

General Transportation

Rides to medical appointments are provided by volunteer drivers. Contact Gentransp Deerfield Community Center at (608) 764-5935 or CART Cambridge Area Resource Team at (608) 423-1423 to arrange a ride. Please call 2-3 business days prior to the appointment.

Nutrition Program

Cambridge offers a meal site for older adults at the Amundson Center, 200 Spring Street. The meal site is offered year-round on Tuesdays and Fridays. For meal reservations, contact the McFarland Senior Outreach Department, (608) 838-7117, one business day prior to the desired meal. Home-delivered meals are delivered by church volunteers.

The actual cost of $17.20 for meals eaten at the meal-site. However, meal participants are encouraged to give what they can afford, by making a  $4.50 suggested donation for those over age 60. Contributions by participants are extremely important to offset the actual cost of the meals.

Library Services

The Cambridge Library has a new program called "Books At Home." The Friends of the Library are offering a new home delivery service which will allow the library to share the resources of their community library with folks who are homebound in the Cambridge area. This new service will offer a selection of books and magazines delivered by a volunteer to your home once a month.

Please contact the library if you would like to:

  • sign up to have books delivered
  • know of someone who could benefit from this program, or
  • would like to volunteer to deliver books
